ALL HAIL THE WINNERS!!!!

ALL HAIL THE WINNERS!!!!

The first edition of Tha Watcha's Pen Principal writing competition has come and gone and as the cliche goes, has left a good tastein my mouth. It's always amazing how Nigerians always step up to the task once there is a roll call of creative spirits. While a grandprize of 10 grand for the 1st, 5 for the second and 3k for the 3rd might seem little especially in an economy with a soon to be released5000 Naira note, sometimes money is not all that matters-I dare say this is one of them. Consider this a sneak peek at even bigger creative competitions once the website (www.creativenaija.com) is launched. Yessir! #Fingazcrossed.
The entries were judged based on originality, word play, use of grammar, and creativity and they all brought something special to the table but some hit closer to the heart. The 2nd runner up is a poem by Idris Olusola titled "Basket of water". It would have been a tad better with a bit more simplicity, but as i once told a friend, you really can't sum up a poem till you read its closing lines. The same advice applies here. Hope you love it as I did...
The 2nd position goes to a piece I titled "Cindy"- Seeing how he curiously didn't give it a title. It is the story of a girl whose favourite past time was luring men to their death with her sensuality. While I scored it low on originality, I must confess that it is the stuff of novels and one which would be more than sufficient as screenplay for a currently sub par Nollywood. It was sent in by Onaope Akingbade who shows latent traits of a would be Novelist. Go get 'em bro! Yeah! in Ghen Ghen Ghen style. *chuckles*

Trust a dramatist to save the best for last. The golden fleece was stolen by Ashraff Abdulhakeem with his 34 lined poem written infree flowing verse titled "For All it's worth." It very neatly captures the despair one feels when praying for a request that you fear wouldonce more go unanswered, but for all its worth still let out a silent prayer that like the musings from Sefi Atta's book, every good thing will come. I'm of the personal opinion that the lines could have been better constructed, but nonetheless, this entry definitely capturedmy imagination. Over the next two weeks, these entries as well as those that didnt make it to the top three would be put up on this blog with a little sumfin' sumfin' for readers with the fastest fingers at the end of each entry. Hopefully, you would see even more write ups from the blessed pens of these writers as time goes by. You can also get your stuff out by sending it to laylow1388@yahoo.com because i personally believe there is a giant on the insides of each of us...It's time to let it out.

Hey there! Do you know if they make any plugins to
assist with Search Engine Optimization? I'm trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I'm not
seeing very good success. If you know of any please share.
Cheers!

@ Yach: nah. dont know of any plug ins but from my little research, google is quite meticulous when it comes to their search results. The way i see it, you either have to be a big spender to buy keywords, or your site has to really be getting so much buzz, traffic, and updates that there would be no choice but to have it come up tops.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation?
My blog has a lot of unique content I've either authored myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any solutions to help stop content from being stolen? I'd
definitely appreciate it.

@diet program: i also write most of my source or have pple send their works to me for publishing. D only copyright problems i sometimes have is with pictures cos i download using Google search engines.

@tao: thnks for d compliment. Im hooked onto blogspot.com. My lil knowledgeof web design though cautions me against putting too much high definition stuff on it and reducing d blog gadgets i use so things load fast.

Asking questions are actually pleasant thing if you are not understanding anything
completely, except this piece of writing offers fastidious
understanding yet.
